There is going to be another Public Transport strike in London. Buses this time i think... Lots of talk in the media about the rights and wrongs and an upheaval about a proposal for a bill to change the rules on Public Sector striking....
I don't want to talk about that here. Selfishly, i don't care. I am getting everywhere i want on my bicycle. Summer and winter, dressed in mostly cotton and the occasional polyester. No Lycra for me. So why this post?
In the morning, before we start the day, we like to wake up slowly. With first a glass of water (with lemon juice), fo llowed by a mug o f strong coffee to wake us up. Sit up in bed, half an ear on the radio, email, general planning of the day ahead. You might know what it's like... So than the following sound-bite drifts by;
Sarah Montague: "ok, b,but, that's one thing to say that more than , ah, 50% should vote, but to have that additional 40% of all those eligible to vote voting in favour?"
(transport secretary) Patrick McLoughlin: "Well, that was what was recommended by the CBI in one of their documents in 2010, we thought about it, we considered it, and we think it is right to go ahead with that"

(Radio4's Today program,10/01/2015 around 7.35 AM);
Hmmm...
All sounds kindof matteroffactish, doesn't it? It would just have gone in one ear, out the other if i didn't happen to wonder who or what the CBI was. There are advantages about sitting in bed with a laptop on your lap so about 5 seconds later i was reading this;
"About the CBI
The CBI is the UK's premier business lobbying organisation, providing a voice for employers at a national and international level" (source)
